When the wind is offshore or has an offshore component, the wind line will be far from shore. Getting back to shore is more difficult, and you’ll drift towards Canada if you break down.
Southwest: This direction is slightly offshore, which either helps minimize the shore-break or creates nice "rollers". Southwest wind is often best in the early morning, dying by 11:00 AM.
Northeast: If it's hot and sunny and the wind is out of the Northeast, it'll blow well. A strong wind out of the Northeast can produce steep ramps on starboard tack = mandatory airtime! The wind may be stronger towards downtown Cleveland. It gets hotter in the city, and the thermal effect reinforces the Northeast wind.
East or SouthEast: When the wind is out of the East or SouthEast and if it's is hot and sunny, the wind might clock to NorthEast in the late afternoon. Or, it might not :-(
